THE SPOT and RIDING CONDITIONS

The main bay of Cabarete offers exceptional foiling conditions, combining safety, space, and a hassle-free environment so you can focus on pure riding enjoyment.

Expansive & Safe Waters: The entire 2 km bay is deep enough for foiling, with shallow reefs only at the far east and west edges, leaving the rest open for smooth sessions.
Ride with Peace of Mind: No unwelcome surprises—no sea urchins, jellyfish, stingrays, or sharks to worry about. Just uninterrupted riding in crystal-clear waters.
Sargassum-Free Zone: Thanks to our ideal north-facing location, sargassum struggles to enter the bay. The wind-driven current naturally keeps it offshore, giving riders a rare, pristine foiling spot in the Caribbean.
Warning : The reef at KITEBEACH is way too shallow for foiling : absolutely avoid ! same for the 2 reefs at the 2 east-west extreme of the main bay .

FOIL DRIVE FOR ALL LEVELS

Beginners: On the east side of the bay, you’ll find pristine, flat waters, ideal for getting started and experiencing the thrill of foiling above the water.

Progression: Before heading to the reef, the entire bay provides a safe, non-breaking swell, perfect for refining your foil control and dialing in your pumping technique. Expect smooth, 10-20 second rides on these gentle swells—ideal for building confidence.

Intermediate & Advanced: More experienced riders take on the outside reef, where solid, incoming swells (5 to 7 feet) bring adrenaline-pumping sessions. As you reach the breaking sections, you can seamlessly connect back inside the bay—and if your legs hold up, keep the ride going on the inside swell. The setup is so well-designed that riders can effortlessly foil for 60+ seconds at a time.

SWELL SPECTRUM :Prime Caribbean Location

Nestled on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, Cabarete boasts ideal exposure to North and Northeast Atlantic ground swells, making it a true paradise for foil sports enthusiasts. Whether you prefer wing foiling, prone foiling, or assisted foiling, you’ll enjoy consistent 2 to 5-foot waves right in front of your condo—90% of the time.

Season (December – April)

Winter delivers powerful Atlantic swells, with cold fronts guaranteeing weekly wave action. Average swells range from 5 to 6 feet, but 4 to 5 times each season, they can reach massive 8 to 10-foot heights—a true playground for thrill-seeking foilers.

Season ( May – July)

Summer delivers mostly 2 to 4 feet East wind swell from the trade winds that are well established during this time of the year: perfect set up for easy progression and if you like to Foil Drive in the morning and Wing Foil in the afternoon.

Season (August – November)

During these months, tropical depressions roll through the Atlantic, generating incredible 3 to 6-foot swells. Mornings are typically windless and glassy, offering pristine conditions and weaker thermal winds can be on and off, offering ultimately no wind conditions the entire day: my favorite months for Foil Drive action !!

Top Foil Drive Vacations: Off-season !!

We highly recommend planning your visit during the following low season months:

August through November and then May through June.

You’ll find fantastic deals on our luxury lodgings, experience minimal crowds at the reef, and enjoy improved foiling conditions with less wind impact in the afternoons.

TRANSPORTATION

Fly into PUERTO PLATA (POP), which is just a 25-minute taxi ride from our condo, or SANTIAGO (STI), located 90 minutes away by taxi. We can send our private taxi ( at your cost ) so you have nothing to worry about on arrival. Our chauffeur can also stop at a supermarket to do grocery shopping on arrival.

Hurricane insurance for rebooking:

To provide you with even more peace of mind during the hurricane season (August to November) , we offer hurricane insurance for rebooking. Rest assured, if a hurricane threatens to disrupt your vacation, you can reschedule with ease and at no extra cost within the same August-November bracket.
